Peter Yarrow in concert
with Tran Hoang Duc, Nguyen Thi Lan and Truong Ngoc Chien
Hue 22 September 8 p.m. Hung Dao Theater
Last March Peter Yarrow, of the famed American folk music group “Peter, Paul and Mary”, inspired an audience at the Ha Noi Opera House, and delighted disabled children and veterans at Friendship Village. Now, this September, he brings his musical message of peace, mutual respect and personal ethical accountability back to Vietnam,
Contributions will be collected at concerts for the benefit of Agent Orange victims. A limited number of reserved seats have been set aside, with special thanks, for pre-concert donors. Additionally, the performers will host an after-concert event for special supporters of Peter's and FRD’s efforts to advocate responsibility for the legacies of war, including Agent Orange, land mines, and unexploded ordnance. “No American folk group has lasted longer or amassed a more loyal following than Peter, Paul and Mary; indeed, few groups of any genre have logged more years (43) or miles (countless) in direct, yearly touring; spreading the message and engaging the next (now four) generations. During its now legendary career, the trio won five Grammys, produced five Top 10 albums and 13 Top 40 hits, of which 6 ascended into the Top 10 - as well as six gold and three platinum albums. That PP&M achieved such a rarefied level of commercial success without compromise, and while continuing a centuries-old tradition of people raising their voices in song for the sake of freedom, is simply further evidence of their extraordinarily successful career -- as much a mission accomplished as a musical career” http://www.peterpaulmary.com/history/f-bio.htm
